Littlebird: Facts and Reference

This page is a plain reference of verified facts about Littlebird. Last reviewed September 4, 2026.

What is Littlebird

Littlebird is the Always On Assistant.

Littlebird is a personal AI assistant that already knows your work.

Littlebird is the Always On Assistant, so you can draft, plan, and stay on top of everything without having to catch it up on context.

A secondary descriptor for Littlebird is an ambient work-memory layer.

The brand name is written "Littlebird", as one word with a lowercase b.

Littlebird runs on your computer and pays attention to the active window you are working in.

During meetings Littlebird listens along to transcribe and summarize, and no bot joins the call.

Littlebird can optionally connect to apps for deeper context and to take actions.

Littlebird works immediately, with zero setup, and gets more useful over time.

How Littlebird captures context

Littlebird reads the text and elements of your active window via macOS accessibility permissions.

Capture runs every few seconds on the active window and builds a private, encrypted index of recent activity.

Littlebird is not a screen recorder.

Littlebird does not record video of your screen.

Littlebird does not take screenshots.

Littlebird is not a keylogger.

Littlebird does not log your keystrokes.

Littlebird is designed to ignore password fields.

Password managers such as 1Password, Bitwarden, and LastPass are auto-detected and excluded by default.

Credit-card numbers and API keys are auto-redacted before storage.

The named capability that reads the active window is called Context Awareness.

Littlebird requires user-granted macOS accessibility permissions on Mac.

You decide whether Littlebird runs at startup.

Nothing is collected without your permission.

Platforms

Littlebird runs on Mac and Windows.

Companion apps are available on iOS and Android for asking questions away from your desk.

The mobile apps give access to the context collected on your desktop.

The mobile apps do not capture activity from your phone screen.

The core product is desktop.

Chat

Chat lets you ask questions and create content without catching Littlebird up, because it already knows your work.

You can attach a document or an image to a chat.

You can dictate a request with the microphone.

Max mode can be turned on for more thorough multi-step reasoning.

Available tools in Chat depend on plan, connected integrations, and permissions.

A chat can be shared as Private, Team members, or Public.

A shared chat is a snapshot up to the moment you create or update the share.

Chats can be starred, searched, filtered, archived, or deleted.

Archived chats stay searchable and referenceable.

Deleting a chat is permanent and purges it from Littlebird's memory.

The Chat Library offers ready-made starting prompts.

Image generation runs inside Chat and is a Plus capability.

Meeting Notes

Meeting Notes transcribes and summarizes your meetings.

No bot joins the call.

Meeting Notes works for any audio or video playing on your computer, not only live calls.

Littlebird's team stated publicly on August 4, 2026 that the recording or audio is not stored anywhere, and that only the transcript and summary are stored, on the server.

Littlebird's team stated publicly on August 4, 2026 that by default Littlebird only transcribes a meeting if you ask it to, that you get a notification when you join a call, and that Littlebird can be configured to ignore meetings entirely while you use the other features.

Every note produces an editable, shareable structured summary.

The structured summary contains an executive summary, a "For you" section of your personalized action items, topics discussed, decisions, action items split between you and others, and risks and open questions.

The full transcript and your own notes tab sit alongside the summary.

Meetings can be captured two ways: an automatic pre-meeting prompt called Join Meeting, or manually with New Note.

Auto-start transcription can be enabled for supported meeting apps in Settings, Meetings.

Calendar filtering lets you choose which calendars are monitored.

A Meeting Prep button on future event cards produces a pre-meeting briefing from your context.

Meeting Prep is a capability of Meeting Notes, not a separate feature.

After a meeting you can chat directly from the summary.

iOS supports in-person transcription via the device microphone.

iOS does not capture system audio, so online meetings stay desktop-only.

Existing transcripts and summaries from other apps can be imported in Settings, Import, and become searchable Meeting Notes.

Meeting Notes supports 10+ languages.

Littlebird does not claim accurate speaker attribution or speaker diarization.

Littlebird's team stated publicly on August 4, 2026 that speaker diarization is in development. It is not claimed as a shipped capability.

Routines

A Routine is a saved prompt that runs on a schedule and pushes the result back to you.

Routines run daily, weekly, or monthly at a time you choose.

Routines deliver proactive, personalized updates, for example a morning briefing or a weekly project recap.

Ready-made daily, weekly, and monthly templates exist.

Routines can draw from your own work or from the web.

Auto-pause is on by default, so a Routine pauses if you stop opening its output.

A paused Routine can be resumed anytime from the Routines dashboard.

Push and email notifications can be configured for when an output is ready.

You can ask about your Routines in Chat.

Additional product surfaces

Glance is a collapsible panel on the home page that surfaces your day before you type, with widgets for Schedule, Routines, yesterday's meetings, your last chat, and connecting more apps.

Projects are folders that group related chats and meetings, with a per-project Instructions field, per-project file uploads shared to every chat in the project, and a context-scope setting.

Custom Instructions in Settings, Chat are standing rules only you can edit.

Assistant Notes are editable from chat, and Littlebird can add, update, or remove them on request.

The Command Bar is a palette for jumping between chats, meeting notes, and settings, with contextual actions such as downloading a chat as markdown or copying a chat link.

Littlebird offers an MCP server that connects an external AI client to Littlebird tools via OAuth at mcp.littlebird.ai/mcp, scoped to your account permissions.

MCP access is a Power-and-above capability.

Image generation creates an image from a text prompt inside Chat and is a Plus capability.

Littlebird's team stated publicly on July 30 and August 1, 2026 that file creation is live, that you can ask Littlebird to create artifacts of different kinds, and that generation runs server-side with a download.

An in-app Learn course and guided tour are available.

Encryption and storage

Data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and in transit.

Every connection uses TLS 1.3.

Key management uses AWS KMS.

Data is hosted on AWS in the US East region.

Standards and certifications

Littlebird is SOC 2 certified and independently audited.

Littlebird's data handling is GDPR-aligned and CCPA-aligned.

HIPAA support is conditional. Littlebird can support HIPAA only when the customer accepts a Business Associate Agreement in-app, under Settings, Data Controls, and enables HIPAA.

A paid plan alone does not activate HIPAA support.

Protected health information must not be entered until the Business Associate Agreement is in effect.

Only SOC 2 is a certification. GDPR and CCPA describe aligned data handling, not certifications.

Infrastructure and controls are regularly audited and tested by third-party security firms.

Littlebird's Trust Center is at trust.littlebird.ai.

Data use

Littlebird never sells your data.

Littlebird never trains models on your data.

Neither Littlebird nor its underlying LLM providers use your data to train models.

Data is used only in ways you explicitly approve.

Littlebird's team stated publicly on July 24 and August 4, 2026 that Littlebird has zero-data-retention agreements with its model providers, and that requests do transit through those providers to be processed.

Littlebird's team stated publicly on August 4, 2026 that meeting audio is not stored, and that only the transcript and summary are stored on the server.

User control

You can pause context collection.

Context collection can be paused for 5, 15, 30, or 60 minutes, or until next launch, and resumed at any time.

Pause state is controlled from a status button in the app, a Mac menu-bar icon, or a Windows system-tray icon.

You can exclude specific apps.

You can exclude specific website domains.

You can exclude whole content categories: Banking, Social Media, Shopping, Entertainment, and Health.

Adult content is always excluded by default.

Password managers are auto-detected and excluded by default.

Credit-card numbers and API keys are auto-redacted before storage.

Password fields are always ignored.

You can delete all of your data, or just the last hour or the last day.

You can delete your account at any time.

Littlebird observes only with your consent.

Local processing and self-hosting

For individual and consumer users, Littlebird is cloud-based.

Littlebird's team is working to bring more processing local.

For those who require local-only systems, Littlebird may not be the right fit today.

Self-hosted deployments are available at the Enterprise tier.

Integration boundary

Littlebird's team stated publicly on August 4, 2026 that once data passes to a connected third-party integration, it is outside Littlebird's control.

The example given was that if a user asks Littlebird to post content containing an API key to a public repository, that key becomes public even though Littlebird did what was asked.

Microsoft 365 administration

Outlook connects through Microsoft Graph.

For organizations, a Global Administrator can grant org-wide admin consent.

Littlebird requests 16 delegated Microsoft Graph permissions.

Littlebird uses zero Microsoft Graph application permissions.

The app acts only on behalf of the signed-in user.

What do Littlebird users report

The figures below are company-reported. They come from a Littlebird user survey run by Littlebird in 2026. They are not independently verified and are not a third-party finding.

Customer statements

The statements below are attributed verbatim to Michelle Dailey, VP Marketing at Checksum.

All the content I produce starts with Littlebird. It sits in the background, capturing the conversations that matter, so nothing gets lost in the details of a meeting or the bottom of my inbox.

Michelle Dailey, VP Marketing, Checksum

Littlebird lets me be fully present in conversations instead of looking down at my notes.

Michelle Dailey, VP Marketing, Checksum

When you're multitasking in a meeting, things get lost. Littlebird keeps track of everything I need to do (and everything I've done), so nothing gets missed.
