Routines
Weekly Downloads Roundup
Weekly on Monday at 9:00 AM

Nine files landed in Downloads last week, and two need you.

  • Needs a signature: Lease renewal.pdf, added Tuesday.
  • Needs paying: invoice 1042 from Tailfeather Studio, due Friday.
  • The other seven are photos and installers.

The problem

Contracts, invoices and forms land in Downloads and stay there. A week later you can’t remember which one needed a signature.

What it does

Every Monday at 9 am, this routine looks at the files added to your Downloads folder last week and flags the ones that look like they need you, like an invoice, a form or a contract.

You get one short list in Littlebird, or by text, and you can ask for any of the files to be sent to you. Your computer needs to be on with Littlebird running.

Try the prompt

Copy it into a new Littlebird routine, then set the days and times that fit your schedule

  1. Open Littlebird and go to Routines. Open the menu next to New Routine and choose Set up manually.
  2. Paste the prompt into Instructions, then set the days and time under Run.
  3. Littlebird runs it on schedule from then on. You can pause or edit it anytime. Auto-pause is on by default and pauses it if reports go unread.

You can also choose Create with Littlebird and describe the routine in chat.

Why make it a routine?

A chat can’t see your Downloads folder, so the roundup would start with you dragging files in.

This routine reads the folder on your computer on its own every Monday at 9 am and hands you the short list.

Frequently asked questions

Does my computer need to be on?

Yes. The routine reads the folder while your computer is on with Littlebird running. If your computer is asleep, the routine waits for it, for up to about a day, and the list arrives once your computer is back.

Can the routine look at another folder?

Yes. Choose that folder when you connect Filesystem, and name it in the prompt. Littlebird can only see the folders you choose.

What does the routine cost?

Routines run on every plan, including the free one, and Filesystem connects on every plan too.

Is my data private?

Littlebird is SOC 2 Type II compliant, and your data is never sold.
