Weekly Things Review
Weekly on Friday at 4:00 PM

You finished 14 to-dos this week, and three are overdue.

  • Overdue: send Dana the revised deck, book the photo shoot with Tailfeather Studio and renew the domain.
  • Next week: the Birdseed pilot kickoff on Monday and the Q4 budget on Thursday.
  • Stuck: four to-dos haven’t moved in a month.

The problem

A weekly review keeps a task list honest, and it’s the first habit to slip when the week runs long.

What it does

Every Friday at 4 pm, this routine reads your Things lists on your Mac: the to-dos you finished this week, the ones past their deadline and what’s scheduled for next week.

You get one short review in Littlebird, or by text, so Monday starts with a plan. Your Mac needs to be on with Littlebird running.

Try the prompt

Copy it into a new Littlebird routine, then set the days and times that fit your schedule

  1. Open Littlebird and go to Routines. Open the menu next to New Routine and choose Set up manually.
  2. Paste the prompt into Instructions, then set the days and time under Run.
  3. Littlebird runs it on schedule from then on. You can pause or edit it anytime. Auto-pause is on by default and pauses it if reports go unread.

You can also choose Create with Littlebird and describe the routine in chat.

Why make it a routine?

A chat can review your week only after you export your lists and paste them in.

This routine reads Things on your Mac on its own every Friday at 4 pm and hands you the review.

Frequently asked questions

Does my Mac need to be on?

Yes. The routine reads Things on your Mac while it’s on with Littlebird running. If your Mac is asleep, the routine waits for it, for up to about a day, and the review arrives once your Mac is back.

Can I use OmniFocus instead?

Yes. Connect OmniFocus and name it in the prompt, and the review reads your OmniFocus projects.

What does the routine cost?

Routines run on every plan, including the free one, and Things connects on every plan too.

Is my data private?

Littlebird is SOC 2 Type II compliant, and your data is never sold.
