Your existing memories stay on your device and remain viewable in read-only mode, and MCP-connected tools can still read them. Nothing is deleted.

Is Pieces shutting down?

Yes. Pieces announced in September 2026 that it is shutting down after six years. September 27, 2026 is the last day of full service. From September 28, Pieces stops saving new memories and chat stops working, though the app stays usable in read-only mode and MCP tools can still read existing memories. Paying customers will not be charged again, and refunds are being worked out. Littlebird is available today on Mac and Windows, with a free Basic plan and Plus from $17 per month.

Does Littlebird have an MCP server like Pieces?

Yes. Littlebird includes an MCP server on every paid plan, so your work memory is available inside MCP-compatible tools like Claude. Pieces also ships an MCP server, aimed mainly at coding assistants such as Cursor and Codex. You can pause capture or delete your data at any time.

Can I move my Pieces data into Littlebird?

There is no direct import, so treat the two as an archive and a fresh start. Wait for the Pieces export tool and run it before uninstalling anything, so your history is safe.
