How Littlebird works with Things

TThingsReview your lists and add to-dos on your Mac

A to-do often turns up when you are away from your desk, like an action item from a meeting or an errand someone texts you. With Things connected, Littlebird reads your lists and adds to-dos in Things 3 on your Mac when you ask.

Review your lists

Ask what is due today or what is left in a project, and Littlebird reads your Things lists and tells you.

Use Things from your phone or by texting Littlebird

Ask in the Littlebird app on your phone or on the web, or text Littlebird in iMessage or WhatsApp. Littlebird reaches Things on your Mac while your Mac is on with Littlebird running.

    Put Things in a routine

Littlebird’s Routines page with one routine, Monday check-in, set to run weekly on Mondays at 9:00 AM. Its instructions: Check Things and last week’s meetings, and tell me what needs my attention. Email is on, so each report also arrives by email.

    Questions about Littlebird and Things

    What does connecting Things add?

Review your lists and add to-dos on your Mac Littlebird uses Things when you ask in Chat, when a routine you set up runs and when it prepares you for a meeting. Even before you connect it, Littlebird sees Things when it’s the active window on your screen, unless you exclude it.

What do I turn on in Things?

In Things, open Settings, then General, and turn on Enable Things URLs. Without it, Littlebird can read your to-dos but can’t add or change them.

Does Things work with Littlebird on Windows?

No. Things runs on a Mac, so Littlebird uses it on your Mac.

Does my Mac need to be on?

Yes. Littlebird reaches Things while your Mac is on, awake and online with Littlebird running, even with the Littlebird window closed. If your Mac is asleep or off, Littlebird tells you, and a scheduled routine that needs Things waits for your Mac to come back, for up to about a day.

What does Littlebird need on my Mac?

Full Disk Access for Littlebird, so it can read your Things lists.

Littlebird is both my personal assistant and researcher. It’s simply the best personal productivity tool I’ve ever tried.
