Freelance writers, minus the business-of-writing overhead

Littlebird tracks every pitch, deadline, and invoice across your publications -- so the writing gets the hours and the admin gets minutes.

Freelancing is two jobs: the writing and the business of writing. Pitches out to six editors, three deadlines in flight, two invoices aging past 30 days, and a source from last month's story who just emailed back. The admin expands to fill whatever the writing does not use.

Littlebird keeps the business organized while you write. What each editor likes, what you pitched where, which invoice needs a nudge, and the research trail behind every story in progress. The second job shrinks back to its proper size.

What Littlebird does for

Freelance Writers

01

Tracks pitches and editors across publications

What you pitched, to whom, and when -- plus what each editor tends to buy. Follow-ups go out on schedule, not on memory.

02

Keeps every story's research trail

Reports, interviews, and notes linked per assignment. A fact-check question months later gets an answer, not a panic.

03

Manages deadlines and invoices without a spreadsheet spiral

What is due, what is filed, and who owes you money. The aging invoice gets chased the day it turns, not the month after.

04

Drafts pitches with the research attached

Story pitches built from the reporting you already did, tailored per publication. More pitches out, better hit rate.

Frequently asked

Will editors know I use an assistant?

Littlebird handles research trails, organization, and drafting -- the reporting decisions and the voice stay yours, which is what editors are buying.

What does it cost on a freelancer's budget?

Basic is free. Plus costs $17 per month billed annually, or $20 if you pay monthly, with a 14-day free trial. Most freelancers find one landed pitch covers the year.

Is my unpublished work private?

Completely. Littlebird is SOC 2 certified and GDPR and CCPA compliant -- never sold, never used to train models, and deletable anytime.

Does it work in my writing apps?

Yes. It reads whatever is on your screen -- documents, email, research tabs -- so it works alongside any word processor or CMS you use.

Will a Windows version exist?

Not yet. Littlebird is Mac-only today, and the waitlist gets notified when Windows support arrives.
